IMPORTANT: Big Changes in the Laboratory!

Effective immediately we will no longer be using St. Josephs hospital for our after hours stat laboratory testing!

All testing will be sent to LabCorp regardless of the time of day or night.

Each Nurses station has been supplied with the new LabCorp requisitions.

What does this mean to you?  How does the process change?

Essentially it’s the same process. Just with a new requisition and phone number.

  1. Collect the blood specimen via a peripheral blood draw.
  2. Fill out the LabCorp requisition. (make sure and mark it STAT)
  3. Call LabCorp and they will send a courier to pick up the specimen. (no courier fee)
  4. Results will be faxed and/or called to the nursing station.

LabCorp Phone Number
602-454-8000

There are a few specimen requirement changes, so make sure and check the Lab label for the specimen code, or refer to the newly updated Laboratory Specimen Guide that is located at each nursing station.

As always, please feel free to call the Lab with any questions
602-280-7329
or
call the On-call person after hours 623-256-2206.

National Laboratory Week

Everyone,

This week is National Medical Laboratory week.

Each year, we like to do a little teambuilding and have some fun activities, during "Lab Week". It’s a chance for us to promote our profession and for other folks to get to know us a little better.
If you get a chance stop by the lab and tell the Ladies thank you for all the hard work they do to help take care of our patients.

I am attaching photos of our "decorate a potato" contest, and we are having a celebrity baby picture contest so stop by and participate if you get a chance

News from the Laboratory!

DID YOU KNOW?

When the Lab Labels print out, each label contains a code that tells what the specimen should be collected in?

On the Right side of the testing label is a 3 letter code in bold letters.

That three letter code corresponds to the container that the test should be collected in.

Ever wonder why the side of your ProTime label says BLT?

It doesn’t mean go make a tasty sandwich.  It actually means Blue Top.
